Frequent Asked Questions
General
Absolutely. This is your massage, and I want you to be as comfortable and relaxed as possible. If you feel the need to scratch an itch, rub a sore or irritated area, adjust your position, stretch, swallow, cough, or simply take a deep breath, please do. When you try to ignore what your body is naturally asking for, you often create unnecessary muscle tension. I can usually feel that tension in your tissues, and it can make it more difficult for you to fully relax and receive the greatest benefit from your massage. As your body settles into a deeper state of relaxation, you may also notice involuntary physical responses. These can include changes in your breathing, muscle twitches, stomach sounds, emotional release, signs, shifts in body temperature, changes in skin sensitivity, or other normal autonomic nervous system responses. These are simply natural body reactions that occur without conscious intent and are not, by themselves, indicative of your thoughts, intentions, or emotional state.Your massage is a time to listen to your body rather than fight against it. Feel free to make any desired touching, movements, or adjustments that help you release stress and remain comfortable throughout your session. The more relaxed your body is, the more effective and enjoyable your massage experience will be.
